Tableau Salesforce Conference 2025

As lawyers, we are trained and conditioned to be “conservative” (not in the political sense of the word, but in terms of how we react to change in the world around us). Part of this conservatism is captured by the maxim, “Look before you leap.” For lawyers, this often means looking ten to twenty times and then rather than leaping sticking a toe into the water.

Of course, there are benefits to this conservative approach — and these benefits should not be dismissed. But, there is also a downside. Sometimes, the cautious and conservative lawyer is left behind as the world around them changes. And, I find myself sometimes wondering — and if I am being honest — worrying that lawyers, and particularly public sector lawyers, are being left behind in the AI revolution.

This past week, I had the privilege of attending the Salesforce Tableau Conference in San Diego. And, it was truly an eye-opening experience about what AI potentially means for the work I do and that of my colleagues. My mind is still racing in overload from everything that I learned about the power and potential of AI and data Please read below for some of my initial thoughts about the conference.

This Conference was a tremendous opportunity to build new connections and to think about how AI can positively transform the work that public sector attorneys do in a variety of ways. It was lovely to be surrounded by others who recognize the transformative power of data and AI. I was particularly inspired by the amazing women who I met at the “Women in Data” event.

Another highlight of the conference was being able to to meet some DC area friends as well as have the unique opportunity to meet an AI agent robot who was able to answer sophisticated questions! I had the opportunity to ask it: How can AI assist lawyers?

I am so grateful to have had this wonderful learning experience — surrounded by others who recognize the transformative power of data and AI.

I urge you to dive in, embrace it and start now! Integrating AI and data technology can be overwhelming but, it’s important to stay informed about this potential technology. I have learned so much from the Tableau Conference and I urge attorneys in the public sector to integrate this rapidly evolving technology. Don’t get left behind!
